Danbury Dems Endorse Joseph Britton to Fill Board of Ed Seat

DANBURY, CT — Members of the Danbury Democratic Town Committee have overwhelmingly endorsed Joseph Britton to fill a vacancy on the Board of Education.
Britton was among several Democrats interested in the position and was endorsed by the committee Monday. William Love Jr., who was also interested in the position, has decided to run for the education board during the upcoming election in November.
"It's such an exciting time for the Danbury Democratic Party and we have a banner year ahead of us," party chairwoman Andrea Gartner said. "Already we have seen a spike in interest to serve at the municipal level and to volunteer for upcoming elections. With this broader participation, we are so fortunate to nominate great candidates for municipal vacancies," said in a release.
The seat on the education board was left vacant after Farley Santos resigned to take a position on the City Council. Britton is the second Democrat to be endorsed to fill vacancies on the school board in the past few months.
Kate Conetta replaced fellow Democrat Kathleen Molinaro who resigned her position in January to spend more time at home for family health reasons.
Britton, 23, was raised in a family that is deeply rooted in the city and public service. His mother, Luisa Zagottis-Britton, served as a PTO officer at Shelter Rock while his grandparents were the owners of Angelo’s on South Street. Britton has been attending board meetings and budget workshops in recent months to ensure a smooth transition.
“It’s enabled me to grasp the particulars of the district budget so I can contribute right out of the gate to what is sure to be a fierce budget battle in the coming months,” Britton said. “I look forward to being confirmed by the board and working hard on behalf of all of Danbury’s children. I’m humbled to receive the support and endorsement of the Danbury Democratic Town Committee.”
