DANBURY, CT — The city fired its second salvo of Independence Day bombs bursting in air on Wednesday night.

The 4th of July Eve pyrotechnics were presented as part of the Danbury Fair Mall SummerStage Fireworks Show and Block Party, and captured in photos here by Kelly Manning.

The event began at 6 p.m. as revelers from around the area left work and made their way to the aptly-named-for-once overflow lot at the Danbury Fair Mall. The band After Hours, a local band from Western Connecticut State University, played until 8 p.m., and were followed by local favorite One Stop Pony Band. The first firework was ignited close to 9:30 p.m.

It was Danbury's second fireworks show of the week. The Danbury Volunteer Fire Department fired the first shots on Sunday night over Candlewood Lake. That show was originally supposed to trigger on Saturday, but was rescheduled for Sunday due to the forecast of inclement weather.

In the mood for more boom? You cannot be blamed. Head on over to the shows in Wilton or Ridgefield on the night of the Fourth of July for even more rockets and red glare.
