Danbury FD Gets New ATV for Search and Rescue
The new Polaris Ranger was donated by a local business.
DANBURY, CT — The Fire Department is now better equipped to perform search and rescue operations across challenging terrain, thanks to the donation of a new all-terrain vehicle, the News Times is reporting.
Enbridge, who owns the Algonquin natural gas pipeline that runs through the city, has donated a new Polaris Ranger. The vehicle can seat four and includes a brush fire unit on the back with 70 gallons of water.
Last year, a Bethel resident was found dead after a day-long search in Danbury's Farrington Woods, an operation that would have benefited from a vehicle such as the Ranger.
