Danbury Firefighter Saves Shi-Tzu from Burning Home
Firefighters acted quickly when a family and only one of their two dogs made it out of the fire.
DANBURY, CT — A Danbury firefighter saved a Shih Tzu dog from under a couch in a burning home Sunday morning, according to the Danbury Fire Department.
Firefighters arrived at 44 Fleetwood Drive at 4:45 a.m. Sunday morning to find a fire running up the side of a single-family home. All five family members and one of the two dogs safely made it out of the house.
Falling temperatures and a car parked in front of a fire hydrant caused problems for firefighters, but Firefighter Jason Biroscak was able to find Sophie, the Shih-Tzu, under a couch and deliver her for care, according to the fire department.
