Danbury Firefighters Honored for Life-Saving Response
The Green Cross is 'the symbol of recognition for those who have used Hurst Jaws of Life products to save lives,'

DANBURY, CT — The HURST Company, makers of the Jaws of Life® line of products, awarded the City's 'D' platoon of firefighters their Green Cross for life-saving actions last July.
A two-vehicle accident on Newtown Road around midnight on July 27 left one person trapped inside one vehicle, and two trapped in the other. All three were suffering from life threatening traumatic injuries.
The firefighters rescued the trapped victims, using one set of hydraulic Hurst Jaws of Life® tools and four other eDRAULIC® rescue tools, from the same company.

The use of the more traditional eDRAULIC® tools, with chains, was made necessary by the position of one of the trapped drivers.
All three drivers were turned over to paramedics for transport to the trauma center at Danbury Hospital, where they eventually recovered from their injuries. A hospital trauma coordinator determined that without the swift actions of the firefighters, "the outcome would not have been as favorable as it was," according to the account on the fire department's Facebook page.

The firefighters sent details of the rescue to the HURST Company for consideration of their Green Cross program, and were honored with the award.
