Danbury High School Teacher Accused of Sexual Assault of a Student

The teacher turned herself in on an active arrest warrant. She has been on administrative leave since February.

A Danbury High School science teacher has been charged with second-degree sexual assault and distributing alcohol to a minor.

According to police, Kayla Mooney, 24, of Danbury turned herself in on March 31 on an active arrest warrant.

The investigation was conducted by the Danbury Police Department Special Investigation Unit after the incident was reported by Danbury High School administrators on Feb. 10.

According to the News Times, Mooney has been on administrative leave since that date and remains on paid leave.

The charge Mooney faces implies that the victim in question is a Danbury High School student.

She was released on a promise to appear in court on April 14.
