Danbury Home Damaged By Fire
Firefighters and police rushed to the scene and were able to escort the home's occupants out of the blaze.

DANBURY, CT — A Richter Drive home in Danbury was badly damaged by fire late Tuesday afternoon, with fire officials investigating a cause.
According to the Danbury Fire Department, units were dispatched to 15 Richter Drive in the Middle River neighborhood at about 4:56 p.m. for a fire alarm.
As units rushed to the scene, however, another 911 call came in reporting that the house was on fire, the DFD said, resulting in the call being for a "structure fire."

The first-arriving units on scene immediately reported a "working house fire," with firefighters and Danbury police leading the home's occupants to a neighbor's house, fire officials said.
Units then began an "aggressive fire attack and extinguished the main body of fire as the additional fire companies were arriving," wrote the DFD.

In addition to the Danbury Volunteer Fire Co. tankers, the New Fairfield and Putnam Lake Fire tankers were also requested.
However, since the fire was extinguished so quickly, only the King Street volunteer tanker was utilized. The others stood by in case they were needed, the DFD said.
Danbury EMS provided standby on the scene, but there were no injuries.
Danbury Police were on hand to provide assistance and traffic control. Danbury Public Works and the city's building department arrived to assist as well.
Deputy Fire Marshal Brian Ohmen is the lead investigator for the Danbury Fire Marshal's Office, and the cause is under investigation.
