Danbury Hospital Loosens Visitor Restrictions

As COVID-19 cases drop and infections rates remain low, Danbury Hospital is relaxing some restrictions for visitors

DANBURY, CT — As coronavirus cases continue to drop and infection rates stay low, Nuvance Health announced that Danbury Hospital would be loosening some of its visitor restrictions.

As of last Tuesday, inpatients without suspected or confirmed COVID-19 are allowed one guest per day. The guest must wear a mask, practice social distancing, and have a government-issued ID.

The visit must be during the regular visiting hours of 4-8 p.m.

Patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 will not be permitted a guest unless the patient is under age 21, a maternity patient or if extenuating circumstances apply, according to the notice from Nuvance.

The state's coronavirus positivity rate, which was tracked by the state Department of Public Health tracked it at 2.63 percent over the weekend, climbed to 3.56 percent Monday. That's the highest one-day rate logged since the third week in February.


Connecticut is scheduled to remove all capacity restrictions on nearly all businesses, including restaurants (but not bars), on March 19. Masks and social distancing will still be required, however.
