Danbury Man Allegedly Choked Woman in Road Rage Incident

The man was placed under arrest after police say he grabbed a woman by her neck, leaving her unable to breathe.

A Danbury man is facing charges after an alleged road rage incident that began at the Danbury Mall parking garage on Saturday.

Police were called to the scene of Lake Avenue and Segar Street around 3:25 p.m. and both parties involved were still at the scene.

According to police, a female victim was backing out of a parking space at the mall when a small black car sped past her and stopped. The victim went on to say that the male driver, later identified as Marcos Marte-Nunez, 21 rolled down his window and yelled a derogatory word at her, police said.

Marte-Nunez was allegedly following the woman on Segar Street which made the victim so nervous that she “chucked” her Ice Tea and Marte-Nunez continued to follow her, police said.

The two then got stuck at a traffic light on Lake Avenue by Segar Street.

Marte-Nunez stopped his vehicle behind the victim’s and then exited his car, police said. Marte-Nunez opened her driver’s side door and allegedly grabbed her by the neck.

According to police, the victim said that Marte-Nunez started to choke her and she was not able to breathe. Marte-Nunez also allegedly punched the victims car several times.

Marte-Nunez did not provide an account of what had occurred and was placed under arrest, police said.
