Danbury Man Hid Gun in Woman's Driveway: Police

The suspect was arrested once he came back looking for the gun he hid at a home on Wilson Street.

A Danbury man is facing charges after police say he hid a handgun in a woman’s driveway.

According to police, officer responded to a residence on Wilson Street around 5:23 a.m. after the resident reported that a suspicious vehicle occupied by several males had pulled into her driveway and she observed them doing something in the bush line of the property.

Once the men left, the woman went outside and found a handgun in a cloth bag after which she called police. Officers recovered the firearm but were unable to locate the suspects.

Around an hour and a half later, the woman called police again to say the car had returned and a male was looking in the bushes. Responding officers engaged in a foot pursuit.

The suspect, identified as Jose Pacheco, 29, of Danbury was taken into custody. Police said Pacheco was in possession of heroin, ecstasy and the keys to the suspect vehicle.

Pacheco was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance, possession of narcotics within a school zone and interfering with a police officer. He was released on a $50,000 bond and given a court date of Dec. 22.

The incident is still under investigation.
