Danbury Man Left Children in Car While He Visited Bar: Cops
Police say the man left three children including a 4-month-old unattended inside a running car.

A Danbury man is facing charges after police say he left three children alone in a car while he went to a bar.
Police received report of three juveniles unattended in a running car just before 11 p.m. on Sunday. Police found a 4-month-old, a 9-year-old and an 8-year-old in the vehicle.
A few minutes later, Edgar Hernandez, 40, of Danbury came out of Copacabana, a bar located at 12 Ives Street, police said. Officers detected an odor of alcohol emanating from Edgar as he explained that he only stopped for two minutes to collect money from a friend, police said.

According to police, it was determined after speaking to a witness that Edgar was allegedly inside the bar for over 10 minutes while the children were left unattended.
Edgar was charged with three counts of risk of injury to a minor and three counts of leaving a child under 12-years-old unsupervised. He was also charged with interfering with police for initially providing police with a different date of birth.

He was released after posting $2,500 bond and given a court date of July 1.
The children were turned over to a family member.
