Danbury Man Who Almost Rear Ended Police Cruiser Twice Faces DUI: Cops
The incident occurred in Monroe while the police cruiser that was almost rear ended was unmarked.

A Danbury man was charged for driving under the influence after police say he almost rear ended an unmarked police cruiser twice.
On April 9 at around 6 p.m., two on-duty Danbury detectives were traveling back to Danbury on Route 25 when they were almost rear ended twice by a Chrysler 200 following behind them, Monroe police said. The Detectives pulled off the side of the road to allow the Chrysler to pass and began to follow the vehicle as they notified Monroe PD.
According to police, while following the Chrysler, the Danbury Detectives observed it cross over the center lines and nearly strike a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction head-on.

At this time, the Danbury detectives initiated a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Verna Road.
Once Monroe officers arrived on scene to investigate, they observed that the operator, Henry Renzi, 66 had slurred speech and the pupils of his eyes were pinpoint.

Police said Renzi denied consuming alcohol, but reported he was taking pain killers prescribed to him.
Renzi failed field sobriety tests and placed under arrest for driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
He was given a $500 bond and a court date of April 20.
