Delia Ferrarone, who has survived 3 global pandemics in her lifetime, has been a Danbury, CT native her entire life.

When you turn 107 where will you be? Delia Ferrarone, a Danbury native, turned 107 on Monday shielded from the pandemic by the protective embrace and care of her long time Griswold Home Care Caregiver, Ophelia! With family and friends unable to travel for this monumental milestone due to Covid-19 restrictions, Griswold hosted an intimate surprise party, complete with Delia's favorite Apple Pie, candles and plenty of balloons! Now, Griswold is inviting the community at large to honor this home town legend with warm wishes shared on facebook, email or by phone as shown below.
Delia, who has survived 3 global pandemics in her lifetime, has been a Danbury, CT native her entire life! She still resides in the same home her father, John Bellino, built for the family in 1929. She was 16 when she moved in, and it has been her home ever since. Delia was married to Charlie Ferrarone, an original Danbury Hatter. Known as “Mama Dee”, she took many friends and family under her wing, cooked the best meals and showed her love by welcoming everyone into her home.
What's Delia’s key to living long enjoyable life? Being around youthful energy, cooking for loved ones, and laughing with family and friends! That's why, even in these socially isolated times, Ophelia, Delia's Griswold caregiver, joke and laugh over stories and games and dress up to connect with family remotely. "Laughs are always present in this home...The two are really quite the pair!” said Delia’s daughter Jan who lives in California.
