Julie Kushner is running for a fourth term as State Senator for the 24th District representing Danbury, southern New Fairfield and northern Ridgefield. As one of the state’s most effective leaders, our Senator brings people together to find solutions.

Over her first six years, she has helped craft legislation that bettered the lives of working families statewide. She supported legislation for a balanced state budget, credit upgrades on borrowing, $600 million in tax cuts, and a record-breaking $4.1 billion “rainy day fund” for the state.

She has helped provide funding to Danbury, including, during her 3rd term:
· 80% State funding for a new high school [the Career Academy] that will not only solve overcrowding at DHS, but also introduce an innovative approach to education
· $1.1 million for the Center for School Safety and Crisis Preparation at Western Connecticut State
· $375,000 funding for local non-profits
· $2 million for a new parking garage for Connecticut Institute for Communities

Julie works tirelessly on individual constituent matters, from helping people receive state benefits when they need it most – like unemployment, Paid Family Leave, Worker’s Compensation, and medical care - to matters we all care about like roads and the environment. Julie has always made herself accessible and available and with her capable and caring aides, sees to it that things get done for her constituents.

Even with a busy senatorial schedule, Julie always makes time for Danbury events: parades, town meetings, senior center events, and holiday festivities with a multitude of ethnic groups. She and her husband support a myriad of nonprofits in the Greater Danbury Area with words and deeds – like being regulars at the Danbury VFW’s monthly scholarship breakfast.
