Danbury Official Named New Finance Director In Vernon
An official in Danbury is moving to Vernon as the town's new finance director.

VERNON, CT — The Vernon Town Council Tuesday approved the appointment of a Danbury official as the town's next finance officer.
John Kleinhans currently serves as the assistant director of finance for the City of Danbury, where he oversees the city budget, grants and risk management.
A selection committee reviewed and interviewed candidates for the position and forwarded its recommendation to Mayor Dan Champagne, who advanced it to the council for consideration.

Kleinhans is actually a familiar face in Vernon. Town Administrator Michael Purcaro said he spent much of his childhood in Vernon and attended Center Road School, Lake Street School, Vernon Center Middle School and Rockville High School until age 15.
Kleinhans earned a graduate certificate in public financial management from the University of Connecticut, a master of public administration degree from Norwich University and a bachelor's degree from Lyndon State College.

His first day in Vernon is March 18.
"John has spent his career developing a collaborative and transparent approach to municipal government operations and looks forward to returning to his hometown on March 18th," Purcaro said. "Please join me in welcoming John to his new position."
