Danbury Police Arrest 2 Men on Heavy Drug Charges

Police had secured a search and seizure warrant after weeks investigating one of the men.

DANBURY, CT — Police arrested two men on drug charges after a weeks-long investigation.

Police had secured a search and seizure warrant for John Fernandez, 26, of Southington, after weeks investigating him based on information that he was selling illegal drugs throughout the Danbury area.

Officers set up surveillance downtown in an attempt to execute that warrant on March 7. At around 4:30 p.m., police saw Fernandez with Robert Stevenson, 24, of Danbury, in a parked vehicle in the lot of McDonald’s on Padanaram Road, and detained both men.

An investigation of the vehicle revealed cocaine packaged for sale, Oxycodone, Methadone pills, heroin packaged for sale, and other illegal contraband, according to police.

Police placed both men under arrest. They were charged with five counts of possession of a controlled substance, five counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, five counts of possession of a controlled substance within 1500' school, five counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell within 1500' school, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Fernandez was also charged with interfering with the duties of police officer, possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana, and driving with a suspended license.

Both Fernandez and Stevenson were released after posting $100,000 bond each.
