Danbury Police: Man Had "Unusual Amount" Of Illegal Drugs

DANBURY, CT — Police have charged a Waterbury man possession with intent to sell illegal narcotics in Danbury, among other drug-related offenses.

The Danbury Police Department began its investigation into Jesiel Ferrerira DaSilva, 29, of Pearl Lake Road, following numerous complaints from community members, according to a news release.

Subsequent police surveillance "revealed DaSilva driving throughout the city and meeting with suspected buyers in obscure residential neighborhoods," engaging in a pattern of behavior that police said was "consistent with drug trafficking," according to the Danbury PD.

On Monday, police observed DaSilva in his car with a suspected buyer while he was under surveillance. The second man "quickly exited" the car as police approached them, before both men were detained.

A subsequent search of DaSilva's car revealed an "unusual amount of illegal narcotics, which included hallucinogens, crack cocaine, powder cocaine, fentanyl, and several thousand dollars in cash," according to Det. Lt. Mark Williams.

DaSilva was charged with five counts of controlled substance possession, six counts of possession with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school and possession of less than eight ounces of marijuana. He was held on $200,000 bond.
