Danbury Police Officer Honored for Service 'Above and Beyond'
The officer was honored Wednesday at the Police Commissioners Association of Connecticut Meritorious Service Awards Dinner.

DANBURY, CT — The bravery of a Danbury police officer was honored last night at the Police Commissioners Association of Connecticut Meritorious Service Awards Dinner.
Danbury PD Detective Leonard LaBonia single-handedly apprehended a man who had just stabbed someone right in front of the officer. LaBonia was able to make the arrest and simultaneously get medical assistance for the victim.
LaBonia was honored along with officers from North Haven, Stratford, Stonington and Bridgeport at the dinner, which was held at Vazzy's Four Seasons Restaurant in Stratford.

Each year, the PCAC recognizes police officers who have gone 'above and beyond' the line of duty with a Meritorious Service Award. Also recognized are those new officers who finished first in their classes in the POSTC academy sessions since the last dinner.
