Officials say a scam targeting local residents has resurfaced in Danbury.
DANBURY, CT — Danbury Police are warning residents about a phone scam in which callers pose as police officers and use the names of real members of the department.
According to the Danbury Police Department, scammers tell victims they have an arrest warrant for failing to appear in court and may provide fake badge numbers in an attempt to seem legitimate.
Police said the department will never request payment or personal financial information over the phone. Anyone who receives a suspicious call is urged to contact the department directly at 203-797-4611.
