Danbury Police Welcome 9 New Officers

DANBURY, CT — The Danbury Police Department is welcoming nine new officers. Seven of the new officers were sworn in on Wednesday.

The additions bring nearly 30 years of experience to the DPD, according to a news release from the Mayor's Office.

"We are very excited to have these new additions to our department. They already have experience working in larger, diverse environments. As such, I believe that they will fit in well with our current officers and supervisors and be able to effectively serve our great community. We welcome them with open arms and wish them a long and successful career here in the Danbury Police Department," said Danbury Police Chief Patrick Ridenhour.

• Officer Kevin Jarrin served as a police officer with NYPD for three years and previously worked as a security guard at a hospital for seven years.
• Officer William Gillespie served as a police officer with NYPD for two years, and has donated his time to the Cortlandt Manor, NY volunteer fire department for seven years.
• Officer Michael Brown served as a police officer with NYPD for one year, previously working as a police officer in both Eastchester, NY and in Tuckahoe, NY.
• Officer Jeffrey Pichardo served as a police officer with NYPD for seven years and is certified as a first responder in first aid/CPR/AED.
• Officer Justin Revan served as a police officer with NYPD for two years and previously worked in retail for over 10 years.
• Officer Terrence Lott served as a police officer with the City of Waterbury for four years, while he also worked with the Police Athletic League.
• Officer Abo Niang served as a police officer with NYPD for two years.
• Officer Justin Orlanski served as a police officer with New Orleans, LA Police for six years, before that, he served as an EMT in New York.
• Officer Angel Rodriguez served as a police officer in Dekalb County, GA for two years.

"These talented and qualified officers bring a broad range of valuable skills and diverse experience to the Danbury Police Department. They will be tremendous assets to the Department and to the Citizens of Danbury. We are proud and honored to welcome them to our City, and look forward to recruiting and hiring more qualified police officers to help to continue to keep Danbury safe," said Mayor Dean Esposito.

These appointments bring the department’s strength to 142 officers. Danbury is actively looking to hire additional certified and entry-level officers in the coming weeks, with the goal of meeting the department’s authorized capacity of 160 sworn officers.
