Danbury Politico Announces Bid to Lead State GOP

Attorneys from Darien and Stratford are also expected to enter the race.

DANBURY, CT — A local veteran political operative has announced his intent to enter the race for chairman of the Connecticut Republican Party, the News-Times has reported.

Richard “Dick” Foley, who was the GOP chairman from 1989-1993, would challenge current chairman J.R. Romano for his seat.

Lawyers David Mathus, from Darien, and Ben Proto, of Stratford, are also expected to enter the race, according to the News-Times.
