Danbury Public Schools Appoints 2 New Principals
Western CT Academy for International Studies and King Street Primary will be under new leadership come the fall.
DANBURY, CT — Danbury Public Schools has appointed two new principals.
Merle Jackson has been named the new principal of Western CT Academy for International Studies. Jackson comes to the district with 18 years of experience as an elementary school teacher and seven years as an administrator.
"Ms. Jackson is going to be a great addition to our team of exceptional elementary principals,” said Superintendent Kevin Walston. "Jackson's experience, accomplishments, and passion for education made her the unanimous choice for the position."

Domitila Pereira has been named the new principal of King Street Primary. Pereira started her career with Danbury Public Schools in 1998 as an ESL/Bilingual Science Teacher before moving into school leadership. Pereira served as an assistant principal for eleven years and briefly as the interim principal at King Street Primary.
"We love to see people grow in their careers within our school district," Walston said, "Ms. Pereira has proven her ability to lead and learn in a collaborative environment."

Both Jackson and Pereira officially begin their roles in the 2022-2023 school year.
