You may be thinking about how many more days you can go to the beach, but the first day of school is just around the corner. With that in mind, here are important dates for the 2015-16 school year in the Danbury Public School System.
First day of school: August 24 (Full Day)

Veteran’s Day (schools closed): Nov. 11
Thanksgiving (school closed): Nov. 25-27
Holiday Recess (early dismissal): Dec. 23
Holiday Recess: Dec. 24-Jan. 1
Martin Luther King Day (schools closed): Jan. 18
President’s Day (schools closed): Feb. 15-16
Good Friday (schools closed): March. 25
Spring Recess: April 18-22
Memorial day (schools closed): May 30
Early Dismissals:
Professional Development (schools closed): Sept. 18
Professional Development (early dismissal): Oct. 2
One hour early release for students: Oct. 6
One hour early release for students: Oct. 20
Parent/Teacher Conferences (Early dismissal for elementary and middle schools): Nov. 2, Nov. 4-6
