Danbury Radio Station Switches To Classic Rock Format

DANBURY, CT — WAXB-AM and W233CF (B945)/Danbury have switched musical formats.
As of 3 p.m. Wednesday, the local Berkshire Broadcasting Corporation stations, and their internet streams, have rebranded as "945 The Hawk" and are delivering a mix of classic rock songs. The stations transitioned from an "oldies/classic hits" format.
Berkshire Broadcasting now owns and operates the following in the Danbury Nielsen market:

- 98Q (WDAQ) – 98.3 (Top 40)
- 1037rock – 107.3/WDAQ HD-2 (Alternative)

- The Hawk – 94.5 (W233CF)/850AM
"Morphing from a traditional oldies station to an 80's based classic hits/classic rock mix. We just felt that now was the right time to get off the fence and go all in. '945 The Hawk' is a classic rock that really rocks," Berkshire Broadcasting CEO Irv Goldstein said in a news release.
