DANBURY, CT — The Danbury Railway Museum will be closed Wednesday and Thursday following the flooding of its basement.

"Uncle Sam stands in the dark tonight as the power has been turned off," the museum reported on social media, as systems damaged by seven feet of water prevented the illumination of Hat City's guardian.

The flooding occurred on Monday, and the museum is regularly closed on Tuesdays.

"An extra thank you to @mayormark for running a tight ship well equipped to deal with the problem," the museum posted on Facebook, thanking Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton. The museum also praised the City's Public Works Department for their "quick response."

The museum has promised to keep the public updated on what if any effect the flooding will have on the Santa Trains event which it has presented every holiday season since 2001.
