Danbury Resident Wins $1 Million Powerball Prize

A lucky Danbury resident claimed a $1 million Powerball prize.

Jose Medrano, of Danbury won the prize playing the Powerball on Feb. 21.

The winning Powerball numbers on Feb. 21 were 10 - 14 - 18 - 34 - 51, the Powerball number was 26. Medrano’s first five “Quick Pick” ticket numbers were a perfect match, but he missed the Powerball number.

Medrano bought his winning ticket at Ed’s Cigar Box located at 379 Main Street in Danbury. Owner Pritesh Patel said the $1 million prize has been the biggest winning ticket bought at the store so far.

For selling Medrano his $1 million prize winning ticket, Ed’s Cigar Box will receive a check from the CT Lottery for $2,500.
