Danbury Residents Vote Tuesday On $115M Water System Upgrade

Voting will be held at residents' regular voting locations from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

DANBURY, CT — City residents will vote Tuesday on a $115 million water system upgrade.

Voters will cast a ballot either approving or denying an ordinance "appropriating $115,000,000 for the planning, study, design, engineering and construction of improvements, upgrades, and rehabilitation of existing water system assets, facilities and infrastructure."

The last major water treatment plant upgrades were performed at the West Lake Water Treatment Plant in 1982, and the Margerie Water Treatment Plant in 1998.

If approved, the bond referendum will allow for the upgrade of existing water system assets, facilities, and infrastructure to continue complying with established regulatory drinking water standards, as well as new drinking water standards, according to Mayor Dean Esposito
