Danbury Schools Name 2026 Teacher, Paraeducator Of The Year

The two longtime educators were recognized Tuesday by district officials.

DANBURY, CT — Danbury Public Schools has named two teachers as top educators for 2026.

The district announced Tuesday that Emily Pardalis, of Danbury High School, was selected as the 2026 Teacher of the Year, while Lisa Sam, of Rogers Park Middle School, was named the 2026 Paraeducator of the Year.

Pardalis has worked in Danbury Public Schools for 23 years, according to the district. Officials described her as an educator known for her passion for teaching, high expectations and strong relationships with students.

“Emily understands at a deep level how what happens in her classroom connects to the larger outcomes we desire for our students,” Superintendent Dr. Kara Casimiro said in a statement.

Sam has served in the district for 20 years and was recognized for her compassion, flexibility and commitment to supporting students and families, according to the district.

“Lisa’s dedication to supporting student growth, dignity, and success makes her truly deserving of this recognition,” Casimiro said.
