DANBURY, CT — The State of Connecticut has awarded Danbury $1,325,000 in funding for the South Main Street Revitalization project.

This project will renovate Elmwood Park, conduct a neighborhood study, and improve sidewalks at the intersection of Park and Main Streets.

The funding is part of approximately $74 million in state money disbursed to support 27 projects in 18 towns and cities, and the fourth round of grants under the Community Investment Fund 2030.

“This project will produce a major positive infrastructure and economic development benefit for the City and has great potential to transform the most distressed and deteriorated streets in the south Main Street neighborhood,” said State Rep. Rachel Chaleski. "It represents a unique opportunity that will have a significant positive impact on our community."

This state grant fund was created in 2022 to support economic development in historically underserved communities across Connecticut.
