Danbury Sets Memorial Day Events

DANBURY, CT — The theme for the city's Memorial Day celebration on Monday, May 27, is "Remembering Our Deceased Veterans, Honoring the Men and Women who served Our Country and displaying the American Flag."

The festivities will begin with a memorial service at Saint Joseph Church, at 370 Main Street at 6:30 a.m., led by Fr. Samuel Scott.

At 7:10 a.m., wreaths will be placed simultaneously at monuments throughout the city. These include those located at Wooster Cemetery, Fairview and Downs Street, West and Division Street, West and Main Street, and Rogers Park at the War Memorial Building and at Memorial Drive. Taps will be played, and a 21-gun salute given, at all locations.

The annual Memorial Day Parade will step out onto Main Street from the intersection at Rose Street beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Following the parade, a ceremonial service will be held at the Rose Memorial to honor deceased veterans.
