Danbury Titans Sign First Player
The fan favorite and former Whalers player has signed a standard player contract.

The Danbury Titans have signed their first player.
Matt Caranci, who formerly played with the Whalers has signed with the new FHL team, the Titans announced.
Caranci, 29, is a Toronto native who played 176 games with the Whalers, more than any player. Last season with the Whalers, Caranci had 20 points in 33 games.

“Matt is a guy who is willing to do anything to win. He works hard on and off the ice, has a lot of experience in this league, and knows what it takes to win. Speaking with Matt I can tell he feels ready to go for this season and is excited to be a Titan,” Coach Esposito said in a statement.

The FHL approved the new franchise in July, the News Times reports. It was unclear whether there would be a new FHL team in Danbury after the Whalers’ dispute with the owners of the Danbury Arena.
