Danbury Unveils Plans for New Transit Center

One aspect of the new plan would cut 40 minutes off the commute to New York City and Danbury.

DANBURY, CT — Officials presented numerous plans for a $30 million Danbury Transit Center and other improvements to the city's transit woes at a public forum Monday night.

The traffic center would include a new bus station to the south, connected across the tracks by a raised pedestrian bridge.

City officials have had preliminary discussions with HARTransit, Metro-North, the state and Eversource about the proposal. Officials are also looking into the possibility of extending Metro-North service from Danbury to the Harlem Line, a move that would cut 40 minutes off the commute to New York City and Danbury.
