Danbury's 2nd Annual San Gennaro Festival Kicks Off Wednesday
Danbury's 2nd Annual San Gennaro Festival begins Wednesday with a procession down Main Street at 5 p.m.
DANBURY, CT — The city's 2nd annual San Gennaro Festival will run Wednesday through Sunday on the CityCenter green.
The event begins Wednesday with a procession down Main Street that includes a new statue purchased from Naples, Italy. Bishop Frank Joseph Caggiano will be the event's grand marshal, and celebrate Mass at 4 p.m. at St. Peter Church.
The festivities will run Wednesday through Friday, 5-11 p.m., Saturday, 1-11 p.m. and Sunday, 1-10 p.m.

Organizers promise over 20 food vendors, local small business vendors, food eating contests, live music every night, and light shows, among other attractions.
Danbury San Gennaro Festival is a 501c(3) nonprofit, and all proceeds will go straight to local Danbury charities. St. Januarius, or San Gennaro, is the patron saint of Naples whom tradition says was martyred in 305 during the Christian persecution under Emperor Diocletian.
