Danielle McCarthy Helps Vermont Academy Win Soccer Championship
Danbury's Danielle McCarthy was instrumental playing as a midfielder in Vermont Academy's win over Christian Heritage School.
Saxtons River, VT -- The Vermont Academy girls soccer team (15-5-2) has won the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class D Championship tournament.
On Sunday, November 17, the Wildcats defeated Trumbull, Connecticut’s Christian Heritage School 1-0 in the finals. Danbury's Danielle McCarthy was instrumental playing as a midfielder. Junior Maggie Hodgson (Saxtons River, VT) scored the goal and sophomore Elizabeth Pitts (Raymond, NH) earned the assist. Jasmine Creamer (St. John, New Brunswick ) was outstanding in goal.
This is the fifth straight year Vermont Academy has played for the NEPSAC Girls Soccer Championship and the third time in five years that they’ve won it. NEPSAC was founded in 1942 as an organization of athletic directors from preparatory schools in New England. It has 155 member schools. NEPSAC sanctions elite New England championship events in many sports and provides guidance in a variety of issues involving interscholastic athletics.
