CONNECTICUT BALLET'S SUMMER DANCE CARAVAN RETURNS TO IVES CONCERT PARK WITH FREE SHOW

CONNECTICUT BALLET'S SUMMER DANCE CARAVAN RETURNS TO IVES CONCERT PARK WITH FREE SHOW:

FRIDAY, JULY 20TH AT 7:30PM

Dance lovers take note: building on the success of last summer's first Ives Concert Park appearance, Connecticut Ballet has scheduled its second annual free performance at the Danbury facility on Friday, July 20th at 7:00pm. Suitable for all ages, the performance is free to the public and the grounds are open for picnicking beginning at 6:30pm. A special ‘Dance with the Dancers’ onstage party takes place right after the performance with a live deejay provided by Ives Concert Park. All are welcome to join the festivities.

The state's professional ballet company kicks off its 31st season with a Summer Dance Caravan taking it to Summerwind Festival in Windsor, Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts in Westport, Middlesex Community College in Middletown, Litchfield’s White Memorial Foundation, and Untermyer Performing Arts Festival in Yonkers, New York.
The Danbury show will feature a mixed bill of family-friendly dance, including selections from 'Swan Lake' and a medley of Bob Fosse's greatest choreography for the Broadway stage. Artistic Director Brett Raphael will be represented by his new creation, entitled 'Babble,' set to the music of Philip Glass. Finally, the crowd-pleasing 'Goose Pimples' to Bix Beiderbecke's rollicking New Orleans jazz sound will close the evening.
