Firefighters Tackle Danbury Housing Complex Blaze​

First responders reported heavy smoke and flames showing from the rear of a two-story multi-family building.

DANBURY, CT — Firefighters battled a blaze in the Danbury Housing complex on Bells Place Monday morning.

First responders reported heavy smoke and flames showing from the rear of a two-story multi-family building, and struck a second alarm that summoned help from the Danbury police, Nuvance Health Danbury Hospital paramedics and the Danbury Fire Marshal's Office.

Firefighters conducted a search of the premises because "it was not clear if there were any occupants that remained in the building," according to their report.

"Fortunately all occupants escaped safely with no injuries which was confirmed by an evaluation from EMS," firefighters posted on social media. "Units extinguished the fire quickly."

American Red Cross Connecticut was requested to the scene to assist with three displaced families, the DFD reported.

The Danbury Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
