From Housatonic Habitat: Learn everything you always wanted to know about fire prevention from the American Red Cross’ HFPC Coordinator Claudia Berry at Housatonic Habitat’s ReStore Celebration on Saturday, June 1, from noon to 3 pm, at 51 Austin Street. Berry will be introducing the organization’s Home Fire Preparedness Campaign.

Says Berry, “The campaign’s goal is to reduce the number of home fire deaths by 25%. We do
this by installing free smoke alarms in any residence and providing safety prevention and disaster
preparedness education. We will be answering questions and taking appointment requests at our
tent…come on down.”

Fran Norman, Executive Director for Housatonic Habitat for Humanity, adds, “The number of homes being destroyed by weather and fire is escalating at an alarming rate… according to statistics, there is a fire a day in Connecticut. Just one of the reasons that we are delighted to give Coordinator Berry and The Red Cross a platform to launch this critical fire prevention campaign.”
