Great Response for Danbury Hometown Heroes Banners

Danbury Hometown Heroes Banners are in high demand and selling out quickly.

The response to the Danbury Hometown Heroes Banner Program has been overwhelming according to Program Coordinator Lee Teicholz. In a little more than 3 weeks since the banner program was launched on August 7th, 34 of the 52 allotted banner positions have already been sold with more applications on the way in.

The Hometown Heroes Banner Program recognizes a specific Danbury service member, whether a current or past resident of the city. Banners will feature a photo, his or her name, rank, branch of service, era of service, years of service and donor information. They will be displayed on White Street from Memorial Day through Veterans Day and cost $160.

Applications can be obtained from the website www.danburyhometownheroes.org and should be mailed to the Danbury Veterans Affairs Office, 155 Deer Hill Avenue, Danbury.

"Not only are you honoring your local hero, but profits from the program will used to help support veteran services within the city," Teicholz stated.

The cut off date for the applications is March 31, 2022, but Teicholz stated they will be sold out long before then. Applications received after the banner positions are filled will be considered for the 2023 year.

Teicholz added that a dedication ceremony for the banners is planned sometime before Memorial Day and he is hoping that additional banner locations may be approved in the near future. Updates and announcements are posted on the banner program's Facebook page.
