'Illuminate Downtown' Lights Up CityCenter Danbury
'Illuminate Downtown' aims to identify buildings throughout Downtown Danbury that are good candidates to be architecturally illuminated.

From CityCenter Danbury: CityCenter Danbury is excited to announce a new initiative to add to the vibrancy of Downtown Danbury. “Illuminate Downtown” aims to identify buildings throughout Downtown Danbury’s corridor that are good candidates to be architecturally illuminated during the night with LED lighting.
CityCenter’s Executive Director, P.J. Prunty, said he is eager to get as many buildings as possible involved in the program. CityCenter has engaged RAB Lighting Inc. to assist with the lighting designs for each building identified, free of charge. Additionally, a local family run business, F&M Electric, has teamed up with CityCenter to provide all the required electrical supplies. F&M Electric has been a part of the Danbury community for over 25 years.
Kyle Cerminara, a sales representative from F&M and part of the second generation involved in the company, said community involvement is an important part of the F&M business plan.

“We have worked with the City of Danbury on past projects and to be afforded the opportunity to work with CityCenter businesses for the common goal of enriching the downtown experience is a privilege,” Cerminara said. “Converting to LED not only serves a safety purpose, but it is economically savvy at a time when people are looking to save wherever they can.”
Savings Bank of Danbury and Hodge Insurance have already completed the lighting improvements to their exterior facades.

Martin Morgado, president of Savings Bank of Danbury, said the new lighting has already attracted notice.
“This lighting project has drawn a great deal of positive attention to the beautiful architecture of our building at night,” Morgado said. “Showcasing our downtown with lighting increases and enhances the positive attributes of our city. Savings Bank of Danbury is proud to partner with CityCenter on the illumination project at our headquarters on Main Street.”
Perry Salvagne of Hodge Insurance was the first business owner to jump on board the initiative.
“A project like this maximizes the visual impact that our incredible, historic streetscape has on visitors, and at minimal cost,” Salvagne said. “I hope that, as more buildings are illuminated, we will experience an increased sense of vibrancy and warmth in our Downtown nightscape.”
Salvagne, one of Downtown’s biggest advocates, said the lighting project demonstrates Danbury’s potential to become a leading example of creativity and innovation.
“Danbury is a city that punches above its weight, and I think people are starting to recognize that,” Salvagne said. “What better way to — quite literally — spotlight some of Danbury’s beauty and history.”
Interested property owners throughout Downtown Danbury should contact P.J. Prunty at (203) 792-1711 or pjprunty@citycenterdanbury.com to learn how RAB Lighting design company can provide a free rendering of their building as it would look with illumination.
