Interaction With Accused Prostitute, Leads to Major Drug Bust in Danbury

Police said residents have been complaining about illegal drug and prostitution activity in the area of Foster and Banks streets.

Danbury police said on Tuesday in response to numerous citizen complaints regarding prostitution and illegal drug activity in the area of Foster and Bank streets members of the Danbury Police Department’s Special Investigations Division (SID) conducted a surveillance of the area.

At approx. 3:45 p.m. Bryan Montalo, of Hill Street in Waterbury, was observed stopping his car on the east side of Foster Street, police said in a release.

An alleged known prostitute was walking in this area and quickly entered Montalvo’s car when it stopped, police said.

At that time, the surveillance team approached the two as they sat in Montalvo’s car. Upon contact with Montalvo, and the prostitute, SID detectives could see illegal drugs within Montalvo’s car, police said in a release.

After retrieving the illegal drugs that were in plain view, a further search of the car revealed a secret compartment that contained a large quantity of heroin and crack cocaine, police said. Based on the finding, Montalvo was arrested for the listed offenses and transported to the Danbury Police Department where he was held for a cash bond pending arraignment or release.
