The Iris Fund Raises Over $27,000 at The Ridgefield Half Marathon
At The Ridgefield Half Marathon and Seven Mile Race, The Iris Fund raised over $27,000 to forward their mission of ending preterm birth.
The Iris Fund is thrilled to announce that last week, at The Ridgefield Half Marathon and Seven Mile Race, thanks to an incredible community of supporters, participants and sponsors, The Iris Fund raised over $27,000 to forward their mission of ending preterm birth by advancing maternal health.
The Iris Fund has fielded a team of runners and walkers since 2018 with grateful support from The Ridgefield Running Company. Thanks to our incredible sponsors - Chez Lenard, who provides all the food for everyone at the race, Fairfield County Bank, Addessi Jewelers and Compass Wealth Management LLC - The Iris Fund was able to field a team of over 30 runners and walkers and critically raise not just funds but awareness.
“Fall is an important time for The Iris Fund, as we’re proud to field teams in major marathons (this year Berlin and New York City) but The Ridgefield Half Marathon and Seven Mile Race is our hometown race and it’s where our heart is. Thanks to our friends at Chez Lenard and our sponsorship support from local vendors, we’re able to take part in the best post-race block party and really spend time with our community. This town has taken our family and our cause in and lifted us up since 2017. We’re so grateful to everyone that walks, runs, cheerleads and eats a hot dog with us. As Iris’ grandpa says, it’s a top ten day!”

In addition, again this year The Ridgefield Running Company has sponsored a “last runner.” An exciting competition where one of The Iris Fund runners starts last and for every runner they pass. The Ridgefield Running Company donates to The Iris Fund. A big shout out to Jennifer Sunderman for cruising past over 115 runners!
And now, on to The New York City Marathon where 22 Iris Fund runners will pound the pavement for maternal health research and a better tomorrow for premature babies! You can learn more about The Iris Fund and their upcoming races (cycling and running) and so much more at www.theirisfund.org.
