Long Time Danbury Eatery to Close in December
About 20 employees will be affected by the close of the restaurant.

DANBURY, CT — A downtown Danbury institution is closing its doors, the victim of budget cuts in Hartford and its own success in nearby Brewster and Carmel, NY, the News Times has reported.
The Greenery Cafe, notable as a place where adults with disabilities were given the opportunity to acquire professional experience, will be shuttering Dec. 5.
The cafe's backer, non-profit Green Chimneys, is ending its partnership with the restaurant that has served Danbury residents since 1992.

The non-profit cites a reduction in state funding and their own ramping-up of operations in at its campuses in Brewster and Carmel. The primary focus for the organization is serving students who have been unsuccessful in a traditional educational setting and who require a highly structured and supportive program, according to their website.
