Mambo Cafe Closed for A Day

The state Department of Consumer Protection's Liquor Control Commission has suspended the liquor permit of Mambo Cafe for a day.

The state's Liquor Control Commission will suspend Mambo Cafe's liquor permit on Sept. 26 for a series of violations of statutes or regulations.

In total, Mambo Cafe, 32-52 Elm St., was found to have violated eight statutes or regulations. No one was available at Mambo's Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. or at the state Department of Consumer Protection's Liquor Control Commission to elaborate on these violations.

The state Liquor Control Commission said Mambo failed to register its liquor permit with the town clerk. It failed to meet terms of a cafe permit, the commission said, plus it failed to keep its liquor permit in plain sight. It failed to notify the state Department of Consumer Protection's Liquor Control Commission it changed its name within the 30-day limit, the commission said, and it gave or sold liquor to someone or an organization outside the permit's regulations. It sold liquor for resale, which appears to mean it sold liquor like a package store sells it, by the six pack, bottle or to a package store, the commission said, and it said Mambo's either refilled liquor bottles or sold partial bottles. The final charge was Mambo's may have operated a second bar at the same location without a proper permit.
