Mega Shelter - The Voice of the People

Mega Shelter - The Voice of the People

This past Tuesday our community came together again to show their solidarity against modifying Danbury Zoning laws as they pertain to the Mega Shelter on Lake Ave Extension and the applicant, the Pacific House. Danbury’s zoning commission has done an outstanding job allowing the citizens of Danbury to air their concerns, resulting in over 20 hours of online zoom meetings that have lasted until the early hours of the next day. We thank Chairman Haddad and the commissioners for their professionalism and their commitment to the process.

The overwhelming outpouring from Danburians against the changes in the current zoning laws and the Mega Shelter have shown that citizen’s bound together in a common cause can make a difference.

The final public hearing on the application is this Thursday night at 7:00 PM. The hearing will end with a rebuttal from the applicant, The Pacific House, by their attorney.

The fight for the safety of our community and our city is not over. This meeting may be the most significant of all of the meetings on this topic and we are asking – no, URGING all Danbury community members to join in the meeting and show to the City Zoning Commission that we are strong, united, and are ensuring the voice of the Danbury community is heard.

This beautifully diverse community has put political differences aside, joining hands in one united voice. We will not allow our children, our elderly, our families, our homes or our city fall victim to greed or political agendas. The additional drain on Danbury’s resources, Police and Fire services, using subversive tactics, bullying, hiding the truth, theft, and in two instances attacks on one of our homes to scare us away, is unacceptable.
