Memorial Services Set For Wilton Teen Who Died Suddenly
An online fundraiser has been established for the young man's family.
WILTON, CT — Friends and family are mourning the death of 16-year-old George DiRocco, a Wilton High School student and star athlete, who died unexpectedly on Monday.
Over $64,000 has already been pledged to the DiRocco family through an online fundraiser begun less than 24 hours ago.
"We feel hopeless to help, but we can help by donating funds to cover the funeral and the family’s living expenses while they attempt to process this incomprehensible loss without the added worry of how they will be able to support their family," fundraiser Veralyn MacLeod posted on the GoFundMe page.

DiRocco, a junior at WHS, was the victim of an undetected heart condition, according to his obituary.
The Wilton Warrior Gridiron Club has established a scholarship fund in DiRocco's memory to go to a teammate who "demonstrates selflessness both on and off the field, with a sense of humor that could cure any pain."

In addition to his football prowess, the teen was also a standout player for the Wilton High School baseball team. He was a "longtime" Dallas Cowboys and New York Mets fan, according to his obituary.
DiRocco is survived by his parents, Arthur and Deborah DiRocco, and his siblings Nikolas, Arthur (R2), Victoria and Kayla.
A funeral service will be held at Riverside Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The family will also hold a memorial service at a later date.
