New Businesses, Including Café, Boutique, Coming To Downtown Danbury

DANBURY, CT — Several new businesses are headed to downtown Danbury as city officials continue efforts to fill vacant storefronts and attract investment to the city center.

A dentist, veterinarian, boutique and café are among the businesses expected to open downtown, the City of Danbury announced this week. The city did not identify the businesses or specify where they will be located.

The announcement comes as downtown Danbury undergoes several other investments, including a new headquarters for Ives Bank and ongoing sidewalk and streetscape improvements.

The bank is investing more than $20 million in its new downtown headquarters, according to the city.

Members of the CityCenter Danbury Economic Development Committee were also downtown this week conducting a continuing inventory of businesses, vacant storefronts and available commercial space.

The effort is intended to help city officials connect prospective business owners and investors with available properties downtown.

Mayor Roberto Alves' Economic and Community Development Advisor Farley Santos joined the latest walkthrough along with representatives from the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce, Ives Bank and CityCenter Danbury.

City officials said the effort is part of a broader strategy to bring businesses into vacant storefronts and encourage additional downtown investment.
