
Newtown Savings Bank recently donated $1500 to Housatonic Habitat for Humanity to support the non-profit’s mission of providing affordable housing to first-time home buyers in the Greater Danbury area.
Newtown Savings Bank President and CEO Kenneth Weinstein emphasized that the donation was part of the bank’s overall commitment to the work done in the communities by its non-profits and their many dedicated volunteers. Housatonic Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Fran Normann acknowledged Newtown Savings Bank’s commitment to work-force housing. Douglas Hensal, First Vice President, Co-Head Retail Banking Sales, Newtown Savings Bank, serves on the Housatonic Habitat Board of Directors as Vice President, and Laura Manz, Vice President, Loan Servicing Operations Manager, serves on the Family Selection Committee. In addition, the bank provides pro bono mortgage servicing and consulting services while providing mentoring to many homeowners. “From Board leadership to a commitment to family selection, Newtown Savings employees are dedicated to our work. They play a significant role in our success.” She noted that in addition to providing many back-office services, Newtown Savings has also sponsored a Housatonic Habitat home.
Housatonic Habitat for Humanity focuses on making a meaningful difference in the lives of qualified working families by promoting financial stability and self-sufficiency through ownership of affordable homes.
