Obituary: Theodore (Ted) L. Boccuzzi, Jr., 79, Of Danbury

DANBURY, CT — Theodore (Ted) L. Boccuzzi, Jr., age 79, of Danbury died on May 18, 2023, surrounded by his family at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband to the love of his life, Alicia (Lee) (Zeiss) Boccuzzi with whom he would have celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in October.

Ted was the most amazing dad one could ever ask for to his children Theodore L. Boccuzzi III and his wife Donna of New Milford, Lynn-Mary Dillon and her partner Gary of Woodbury and Kristin Sprock and her husband Eric of Bethel. He was also the coolest Pop to his grandchildren: Olivia Haynes and her husband Anthony, Hannah Dillon, Hunter Sprock and his wife Katie, Logan Sprock and Nathan Sprock, as well as to his great-grandchildren: Allie Gibbons, Joshua Haynes, Emma Haynes, Chase Haynes and Roy Sprock.

Ted was born in Stamford on July 15, 1943. He was the son of the late Theodore L. Boccuzzi, Sr. and Angelina (Sullo) Boccuzzi. He was a loving brother to his siblings Carmine Boccuzzi (Joan) of Stamford, John Boccuzzi, Sr. (Vicki) of Newtown, Salvatore Boccuzzi (Anne) of Bridgeport, Connie Nelson (Jeff) of Chesterfield, Virginia, and his sister-in-law, Theresa Boccuzzi of Danbury. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his brother: Joseph “Midnight Joe” Boccuzzi.

Ted was a graduate of Stamford High School. With his love for cars, he became a life-long mechanic working at VIP Limousine and Bethel Automotive.

He was a devout parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church in Danbury. He enjoyed woodworking, building birdhouses, taking long drives, visiting Maine as often as possible, having breakfast with his Brookfield friends and working on his 1933 Chevy coupe and other vehicles with his son. He cherished spending time with his family. His fondest memories were the family trips to Lake George and Lake Waramaug. He was so proud of his family and made it a top priority to attend every school function, game, dance recital, marching band competition, car show, graduation and USCG event with a great big smile. He always made sure that he took every chance he could to tell his family how much he loved them. He thoroughly enjoyed life, and never took anything for granted. The love and close bond he shared with all of his family is irreplaceable and will never be forgotten.

Ted was known for his radiant smile. That smile would grow even wider whenever his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were present. The loss of Pop is unimaginable.
The family would like to thank the entire cardiac intensive care unit of Danbury Hospital for their exceptional care and endless kindness to Ted.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, May 26, 2023 from 9:15 am to 10:15 am at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury and at 11:00 am for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Road, Danbury. Burial will follow at the Wooster Cemetery in Danbury.
