Painting Parties Grow in Popularity

Twenty-two people joined together at Two Steps Downtown Grill in Danbury recently to share wine, food, and a common goal…to create their own masterpiece in a congenial environment.

Experienced and budding artists ate, drank and socialized, then each settled down in front of individual canvasses on easels, and with instruction, went to work with their brushes, letting their imaginations interpret a brilliant waterfront cityscape and sunset.

Instruction was provided by artist Susan Jackson, founder of Master’s and Mixers, who also owns Georgetown School for the Arts. Jackson says since Masters and Mixers’ inception, registrations have increased by 25% monthly. A Google search for painting + parties will deliver loads of results nationally, and many of these businesses are newly opened.

“People have taken to this concept like fish to water,” says Jackson. “No painting experience is necessary. A little wine and social time to loosen up inhibitions, and 3 hours later, each painter has their own creation to take home.”  In addition to those held in Georgetown, Jackson plans to fast-track the frequency of pop-up painting parties at restaurants and galleries throughout the county.

Georgetown School for the Arts is the location for Masters and Mixers events on the first Thursday and Saturday of each month. In addition, Masters and Mixers also hosts 2 to 4 monthly pop-up painting parties at rotating locations, including restaurants and galleries throughout Fairfield County.
