Patch Candidate Profile: Albert Russo, Danbury City Council

DANBURY, CT — The 2023 municipal election is heating up in Danbury and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.

Retired Danbury police sergeant Albert Russo, 71, is running for election to the Danbury City Council representing the 7th Ward, as a Republican.

Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?

Elected to a 4 year term City of Danbury Board of Education

Why are you seeking this office?

I am a lifelong resident of the city of Danbury. I have experience in Public Safety, Finance and Education. I choose to stay involved and give back to my community.

My choice is to be part of the process that keeps the City of Danbury moving forward.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is inflation/taxes. I will press forward to continue the Republican position of conservative spending. Danbury will continue to be a great place to live and will continue to be more affordable than the surrounding cities and towns.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I have been elected to public office. My opponents have not. My experience as chair of the Board of Education Finance Committee has provided experience necessary to work with a high dollar budget.

My years in Public Safety have provided a life of experience in understanding and providing solutions to our citizens.

If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way has the current officeholder failed the community?

I have more experience than my opponent

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Increased Security in our Schools, an increased tax break for seniors. Continue the strong support of Public Safety.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

Retired Police Sgt with 38 years distinction.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

Take care of your pennies and your dollars will take care of themselves
